A true stunner in your herb and ornamental beds alike; cardinal basil will erupt with deep purple-red flower bracts over a long season, giving the pollinators plenty to look forward to. A slower growing and more compact upright basil than most other Thai basils, cardinal basil will provide a long steady harvest of its large spicy-sweet leaves perfect in Thai cooking but also quite lovely in certain Italian dishes and fresh in the summer cookout team. It has been remarkably disease resistant and cold tolerant and has quickly become the favorite basil we grow and we are very excited to be able to offer it to you to grow.

Growing Instructions:
Start indoors 6 weeks before the last frost date in cells or flats in soilless mix. Sow seeds ¼” deep and keep moist and at 65-70 degrees until germination in 5-10 days. Bump up to 4” pot when two sets of true leaves are present and the plant is safe to work with. Transplant to full sun, rich well-draining soil location, spacing plants 4-8” apart with 18” between rows. Requires consistent moisture and keeps plants topped for a long season.
