Commonly called Purple Amaranth, Red Amaranth, and Prince's Feather this plant can be easily started from Amaranthus seeds, and the fast growing Amaranthus grows 60 inches tall in just a few months producing red to deep-purple foliage with hairy stems and long spikes of usually red flowers.

Red Amaranth is a focal point in any garden, and Amaranthus Red Spike is also a superb cut flower for fresh or dried floral applications. Amaranthus Cruentus grows best in full sun preferring moderately fertile, moist, but well drained soil.
