WILD WHITE(False)INDIGO. White false indigo is an American native wildflower. In fact, Europeans used to pay Americans to grow its sister, Blue (false) Indigo for the dye they made from the blue flowers. That's why it's called False Indigo. True Indigo was expensive, but Baptisia was inexpensive. False indigo is a member of the legume family and is Nitrogen-Fixing. you’ll notice a resemblance to peas in its foliage and flowers and its fondness for cooler weather.
