Ixora Maui Red is a dwarf, evergreen shrub that loves it hot and humid. It is an attractive, shrubby, sprawling plant that produces abundant clusters of tubular, bright orange flowers against bronze to green shades of lustrous foliage. Plants will tolerate full sun but do much better with some shade in the afternoon. Maybe that's why one of the common names it goes by is Flame of the Woods.
Where hardy outdoors, Red Maui Ixoras heavy branching and compact habit make it an ideal choice for hedges, borders, and foundation plantings in partially shaded locations, and is also lovely in a pot as a houseplant.
Bright reddish orange ball-shaped flower clusters decorate the glossy, bronze to dark green foliage of this tropical shrub, originally from Hawaii. Blooms heavily during warm months, then off-and -on through cooler weather.
